Host Rock Mineralogy
Host Rock Mineralogy:
Taranis has completed numerous studies in an attempt to understand the host rocks at Thor, and these inlcude petrology, X-Ray diffraction and spectrometry. These methods yield much more information than simple core or rock descriptions, and in many cases are important to use because the host rocks at Thor can be very fine-grained, making it almost impossible to be able to identify these minerals in the field. Hydrothermal alteration of the host rocks manifests itself in various way including silicification, chloritization pyritization of the various host rocks. These types of alteration are important because they can be used to find intrusive bodies that are buried beneath the surface, and can only be identified using NIR/SWIR spectrometry and various geochemical methods. |
