The Thunder Zone & Ridge Target
The Ridge Target was an area identified using prior exploration work including drilling, surface mapping/sampling and geophysical surveys. The area is rated a high priority because of results of the 2021 drilling that led to the discovery of the Thunder Zone 60m in the hanging-wall of the Blue Bell Zone; the most northern of the known mineralized zones at Thor. In 2021, Taranis focused all of its exploration activity on this area and was rewarded in the drilling of its third hole (Thor-220).
The Thunder Zone is a completely blind exploration target, and occurs under a large landslide that covers bedrock. The Thunder Zone represents a new era in exploration at Thor, as Taranis will evaluate the target and continue to block out mineralization in 2022. |
To the right is an image of the landslide found at Thor that conceals the Thunder Zone. In this image you can see the zig-zag network of roads that Taranis constructed in 2020 that go up the landslide and overlay the zone. The landslide is 30-40 m thick, and the very pronounced scarp can be seen at the uphill side of the area (shown by arrows). This feature was unknown until early in the summer of 2021 - and explains why all of the previous exploration and mining companies missed finding this zone.

In this 3D cut-away, the Ridge Target is shown in red wireframe on the left side of the image (north), and the main Thor deposit is shown in red. There are many compelling reasons to believe the Thor continues to the north under Thor's Ridge and it is a top priority of Taranis to explore this with diamond drilling.
