Water Resources & Monitoring
Local inhabitants do not draw their water supplies from the same watershed occupied by the Thor minesite. Nevertheless, ensuring clean water discharges from any processing plants at Thor has been a primary concern since Phase I and will continue to be an area of study and planning as Taranis moves towards a bulk sample, and later production.
An extensive baseline data collection program has been initiated in the Broadview and True Fissure creek watersheds. Two solar doppler radar water-flow sensor stations have been installed and yield reliable data at half-hour intervals. Water samples are taken at regular intervals and are shipped to third party laboratories for certified analysis.
Year-round flow metrics and water chemistry data is being interpreted by Masse Environmental. This is useful data not only for the operation of the Inline Pressure Jig plant (it requires water input from True Fissure creek despite recycling 95% of water) but also so that post-treatment process water discharges and overall stream quality can be monitored.
